I’m sure you would agree that asking for participation is nothing foreign to teachers! We therefore encourage yours! You can of course participate by commenting on our posts, but if you would like to contribute an article you’ve written, or even better yet, become a regular author with ELT Vista, you are most certainly welcome and encouraged to do so! We welcome articles from language teachers, teacher trainers, and other ELT-related individuals.
Here are some guidelines and considerations for submitting an article to ELT Vista:
Content our readers would be interested in reading:
While this website is mainly aimed at EFL and ESL language teachers, we welcome articles that relate to education in general, educational psychology, teacher training, and especially those that relate to personal and professional development.
What we are most interested in are articles that are humanistic in nature and that help to motivate teachers to put their best foot forward. Our regular authors usually write on psychology (personal development), reflective teaching, practical teaching tips, and making use of the arts in lessons. We also host, and invite you to contribute, lesson tasks, fun activities, lesson plans, or articles that benefit our peers, and ELT in general.
Keep in mind that while we are open to most articles, our readers have expressed less interest in content that is overly technical, research related (not including Action Research projects) or content best reserved for linguistic or research journals. If you are researcher and feel the conclusions of your work yield practical application to language teachers, then we suggest writing a summary of your findings for your readers. We encourage articles that can be read and enjoyed by those who do not have a PhD in the field of linguistics.
Reasons why you might consider becoming a recurring author with us:
- You don’t have to setup, maintain or pay for your own blog or website.
- We have a wide audience that will help provide you with exposure. Writing for ELT Vista means having many readers who already subscribe to our blog or visit the site regularly.
- We will help to promote your article.
- Every article can have a short biography, a link to your site or blog and even a photo. Each article that you write will be published under your own name or nickname (whatever you prefer). We make use of avatars via Gravatar.com
- Granted you license your article to us for use on this site, and other possible related initiatives started by this blog (e.g., a book), you are free to define the type of license that you like, be it traditional copyright in which you reserve all rights (default) or an open license such as Creative Commons.
Article Length:
Articles can range from a few hundred words, up to a few thousand (though we may split the article over more than one post in some cases).
Important Notice:
Your article must be your own original work and not copyright material. Yes, before publishing any article we do check to ensure that it’s not already been published elsewhere or is copyrighted. The author retains full liability for copyright infringements in this respect. We reserve the right to edit and modify all submissions.
Please note that every contribution is on a volunteer basis, for which there is no monetary compensation. This policy may change in the future according to the growing popularity of this site.
How To Get Started:
Contact us through the form below, outlining the type of article(s) that you intend to write, and whether you’d like to become a recurring writer or an occasional guest blogger.
After contacting us, and when you are ready, send us an email with your article attached. Your article should have minimal formatting, and must be proofed for errors appropriately. Your work may include links to other websites, but for commercial purposes.
Do you have your own EFL related blog?
If you would like us to link to your blog and feature an article on your own site, this can be done in 2 ways:
- You may comment on one of our articles and include a link to you article, as a trackback. WordPress blogs facilitate this.
- You can submit a summary of your article, which we will post as a new article, along with the link to your website’s content.
We will also be happy to include you on our blogroll of EFL blogs. This opportunity is open to all non-commerical interests.
We looking forward to hearing from you with your ideas or questions. Please use the form below to contact us. Again, many thanks again for visiting ELT Vista and your participation.
